PURPOSE:
The organized unit of United
Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and
to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a
creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through
participation in the global ministries of the church.
Every lady is invited to attend our monthly meetings at 10 a.m. the first Thursday of the month (Circle of Faith) or at 6:30 p.m. the second Thursday of the month in the Fellowship Hall. Child care is provided. Be sure to come and learn more about God's word and our plans for the year. Come early and look over the reading program resources accessible in the mobile library. Please join us.
As an ongoing project, the UMW at Cokesbury participates in the Campbell's "Labels for Education" program. If you want to participate in this, look for reminder symbols on eligible packages and save receipts, lids, labels or UPCs according to instructions: on eligible canned food products, save only the front portion of the labels; UPC symbols from canned products aren't eligible. Save the front-label panels of cans/jars/bottles of Campbell's beans, soups, tomato juices, V8 vegetable juices, Franco-American gravies and Spaghetti-Os/pastas, or Swanson canned broth. Save the bottom flap (UPC panel) from Campbell's Soup and Recipe Mix. Save UPC symbols from Swanson frozen products. Save UPC symbols from Pepperidge Farm products. Save the front label from Prego pasta sauces in jar or bottle, but save the lid on Prego's 46-ounce pasta-sauce bottle. You may bring them by the church office, or we have a box on the narthex table. The labels are given to the Murphy-Harpst Children's Home.
Other mission-related institutions in Georgia are the Women's Initiative Program in Atlanta, Open Door Community House in Columbus and Wesley Community Center in Savannah. As Christians who follow in His footsteps, let us live and proclaim the story of the Resurrection, remembering always the first event: the crucifixion of Jesus who died a criminal's death for our sins.
